One Solitary Life

Over the Christmas holidays I went to visit my Aunt in California. While I was there we had the wonderful opportunity to see the Crystal Cathedral, a Christian mega church in the city of Garden Grove. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to attend a service there, however, we did have a look around and I have to admit it’s quite a beautiful place.

While looking around, my mother stopped by the gift shop in one of the buildings beside the church. There were photos and a timeline detailing the history of the church and what they went through to build it. She decided to pick up a book that she had seen and gave it to me as a gift which I suppose you could call it my Christmas gift (Thanks Mom!). The book was titled “One Solitary Life” by Dr. Ken Blanchard. One Solitary Life was actually an essay written by Dr. James Allan Francis as part of a book he wrote called “The Real Jesus”. Dr. Blanchard was so motivated by it that he, along with Mac Anderson (the founder of Successories), wanted to bring it alive for everyone and as such designed the book.

One Solitary Life

The book contains the essay as well as some reflections by Ken Blanchard. It’s a wonderful, encouraging and inspirational book and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Below is an excerpt from Dr. James Allan Francis’ essay:

Twenty centuries have come and gone, and today Jesus is the central figure of the human race, the leader of mankind’s progress.
All the armies that have ever marched
All the navies that have ever sailed
All the parliaments that have ever sat
All the kings that have ever reigned put together
Have not affected the life of mankind on earth
