A Child's Prayer
A few weeks back I got a pamphlet in the bulletin at church about getting your children to develop a love for Jesus. It spoke about parents teaching their children prayers at an early age and taking the time to pray with them and help them to develop a love for Jesus. At the end of the pamphlet was a suggested prayer that a child could pray and even though they titled it “A Child’s Prayer”, I think that it can be applicable even for adults. Besides, we’re all children at heart right? So here is the prayer ( slightly modified to be a bit more general ), share it with your children, share it with others or pray this prayer even now if you have the time.
My Dear Jesus, I know that you are here with me. I know you love me very much. Thank you for always watching over me. Thank you for taking care of me and all the members of my family. Jesus, today I want to tell you how much I appreciate the parents you have given me, the brothers and sisters I have. Thank you for bringing me safely to this day. Lord I know that many times I have not listened to your good spirit speaking within me but instead followed the inspiration of the evil one. I am very sorry for going in the wrong direction at times. Help me to do only what pleases you my dearest friend. Help me to become more and more like You each day.
Lord, you know all my needs, my fears and my hidden desires. I call upon your help in all of these. I know you will give me only what is good for me. Teach me your way. Help me to live in the way you want me to, as your obedient child. Jesus, I ask you to go with me wherever I may go and let me feel your love whenever I am down. Lord I love you too. Help me to love you more my dear Jesus. Amen.
