Encouraging and Helping people
You’ve been encouraged many times and you are grateful. You have also encouraged others and that is good. You want to continue to encourage and help others. It keeps you humble. You get another two opportunities to encourage others, one you are aware of, and the other you only notice afterwards. For the former you actually find it difficult as you aren’t sure what to say to the person and when you actually want to try and say something, something else happens and so you are not able. The latter you actually discourage the persons instead of encouraging them (you realise this after the fact). Both were opportunities to encourage but you didn’t. You should have, you know you should have.
Judas and Silas, who themselves were prophets, said much to encourage and strengthen the brothers.
1 Thessalonians 5:14
And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone.
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Do you know someone who is down or discouraged? Or maybe someone going through a rough period in their life? Well take a little time to try and encourage them, offer a few kind words. And if everything is okay, then encourage them anyway. Comment on something they have done well or accomplished. Tell them what a nice smile they have or what a nice shirt they might be wearing. Even Thank them for being a good friend.
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus,
Lord, help us to have a spirit of unity amongst each other. Help us to encourage one another each day. Give us the courage to even step up to someone we might not know very well and encourage them. Help us to love one another, bless one another and help one another. Lord let your will be done and let your Kingdom come. In our lives Lord, be Glorified. In Jesus’ name I pray.
