Father's Day

In this day and age many fathers (and men in general) get bad labels. But despite the fact that there may be a few bad apples, I think there are many who are excellent examples of what a father should be. Many of whom are good, upstanding men of integrity. Many who love their families and are kind and caring to all they come in contact with. And especially many who are Christians and love the Lord and serve Him wholeheartedly.

We must also not forget God the father, who created us and knew us while we were still in our mother’s womb. Who protects us and watches over us everyday. He guides us and loves us. He is without a doubt the perfect example of a father.

So to all the Fathers out there, here’s to you. Happy Father’s Day!

Here are a few verses on Fathers:

Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old. Proverbs 23:22

The father of a righteous man has great joy; he who has a wise son delights in him. Proverbs 23:24

Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4

Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged. Colossians 3:21

...Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; Psalm 103:13

Peace and God bless.

Happy Father’s Day, Yannick!

I preached on Joshua 1:1-9 today, so I was glad to see you include verse 9 in your list of verses on fathers.

Hey Brian,

Good to hear from you. Thanks for the Father’s day wishes, even though I’m not a father (or married). :)

What a coincidence that you preached on those verses. Verse 8 in particular I liked.

Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Joshua 1:8

Blessings.

Being a dad is the best (and hardest) job I’ve ever had. Thanks for your post. It bugs me that father’s get such a bad rap. How rare is it to see a TV show or movie today where the father is casted as anything but a inconsequential bafoon.

I whole heartedly agree with Andy – being a dad is the best [ and hardest] ever!

Thanks for the great post Yannick!
